The summit that's host to the Balsam Lake Firetower has a healthy warren of three or four snowshoe hares, which are... suprisingly bold, for rabbits anyway. This hare was happily feeding not more than twenty feet from where I was sitting.

Stumbled across this little lady on the backroads of nothern Ontario. She was very close to the vehicle -- I had an extender on, and was pressing my head against the passenger's side window and shooting out the driver's side, trying to fit all of her in the frame. She ducked into the brush just a few moments later this was taken.

An adolescent bald eagle practices flight from the safety of the nest. They weren't quite getting into the air yet. In another week or two this young predator will be able to lift himself a few inches off the nest; in three to four, he'll be flying on his own.

Found this little girl merrily fishing away, flitting down every few minutes to hit the water below. At nearly a hundred yards away, she appeared as little more than a white speck to the unassisted eye.
